What We Believe

We Believe

In one God existing eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as Creator, Savior and Sustainer of humanity and all creation;

(Gen 1:1, 1:26, John 1:1, 1:3, Matt 28:19, Jn 4:24, Rom 1:19-20, Eph 4:5-6

In Jesus Christ as the eternal Son of God, begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, true God and true Man, who gave himself for our sins, was raised from the dead, and ascended into Heaven, from where he shall return in power and with great glory; Jn 1:1, Matt 1:18-25, Lk 1:26-38, Jn 20:28, Rom 9:5, II Cor 5:21, I Pet 2:21-23)

In the Holy Spirit, the third person of the God-head, who is the divine agent in the world who inspired the Scriptures, bears witness to Christ, regenerates believing sinners, sanctifies and seals them by His power, bringing about transformation from within believers through an imparting of God’s divine nature; (Jn 14:16-17, 14:26, 15:26-27, 16:9-14, Rom 8:9, I Cor 3:16, 6:19, Gal 5:22-26)

The Bible is wholly inspired by God. It is the infallible authority for faith and practice, and a witness to God’s supreme revelation in Christ Jesus; (II Tim 3:16, II Pet 1:20-21, Mark 13:31, John 8:31-32, John 20:31, Acts 20:32)

That humanity was created in the image of God but that by disobedience we were separated from God, suffering both death and depravity. As a consequence right standing with God can be attained only through Jesus Christ. (Gen 1:26, Gen 3, 1 Jn 1:8-9, Jn 3:16, Rom 10:9-10)

That personal salvation is experienced as a new birth brought about by the Holy Spirit in the believing heart. Every person must personally accept salvation by faith in Jesus Christ alone. (Eph 2:8-10, Titus 3:5, John 1, Romans 10:9-10)

That personal salvation is expressed in the power of the Holy Spirit through the ministering of God’s Word, the administering of the ordinances, and magnifying God’s grace and truth in evangelistic witness. That the Lordship of Christ over every believer results in true discipleship in all of life, separation from sin unto holiness, redemptive love toward all people whether friend or foe, full obedience to the Word, and a daily walk in the Spirit.

(Lk 9:23-24,  1 Pet 3:15, Matt 5:44)

In the bodily resurrection of the just to everlasting blessedness and of the unjust to eternal separation from God. (1 Thess 4:15-17, Matt 25: 45-46)

In the personal and imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ from Heaven as the blessed hope of believers who will be ushered into the eternal fellowship of God. (1 Thess 4:16, Matt 16:27, Mk 14:62, Jn 14:3)

What We Value

Gospel-Centered Living (Titus 3:3-7, Lk 10:25-37, Ps 71:15-18, 1 Pet, 3:15, Mk 5:19)

We believe that salvation is by grace through faith. It is not something we do. We strive to live lives that point people to Christ and bring God glory. We want to be neighbors multiplying God’s kindness.

Gospel-Centered Serving (1 Pet 4:10-11, Eph 4:11-16, Rom 12:6-8)
We want to encourage a contributor mentality in a consumerist world. God has given each believer spiritual gifts that are to be used to Glorify God. We strive to encourage and empower each believer to use their gifts in the local church and beyond.

Gospel-Centered Multiplication (Matt 28:19-20, 2 Cor 5:11-12)

We live and serve with a multiplication perspective. We strive to be disciples making disciples.

Gospel-Centered Worldview (Jn 3:16, 1 Tim 2:3-4, 2 Pet 3:9)

We strive to look at the world through the eyes of the gospel. We place an emphasis on Missions and reaching the lost globally.

Continual Prayer (1 Thess 5:16-18, Js 5:16, Phil 4:6-7)

At MVCC, we believe that everything must be soaked in prayer. We are a praying church.

Authentic Community (Matt 11:28, Jn 3:16, Jn 6:37, Is 1:18, 1 Jn 1:9)

We want to emphasize that it’s okay to not be okay. At MVCC, we realize that we are all a work in progress. Together, we strive to become more like Christ.

Biblical Teaching (Heb 13:8, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Jas 1:22, Is, 40:8)

We believe that the Word of God does not change. It was given to us by God and is active and alive today.
